ARC Abatement Houston has begun asbestos abatement and lead paint removal from a century-old Texas State prison unit. Texas’ Central Unit in Sugar Land opened in 1909 and housed 950 inmates and is part of the original Imperial sugar cane plantation that the prisoners worked. The sprawling 325-acre property includes 35 outbuildings that housed guards and prison staff. The housing will be demolished by another company while the main unit will be converted into a museum. The place is also believed to be haunted. As always ARC’s work will come in on-time and on-budget.
