ARC’s Houston office completed a large lead based paint project last month. This project included a wipe down of 90,000 square feet of lead based paint dust.
Crews began by making air tight containments to the area, sealing off all HVAC returns, doors, and windows with poly and tape. Once the area is secured, a HEPA Vacuum is used to begin the detailing process and clean-up of lead based paint dust. Next the area is wiped down with a cleaning solution to pick up all dust particles and disposed of properly. Lead based paint dust is generally best cleaned by wet methods of wiping down dust from known lead based paint areas. This action can prep areas for paint which is known as encapsulation of lead based paint. Once the areas are encapsulated this creates a safe and secure environment from the future hazard of lead.
